WHAT IS STEWARDSHIP?

Stewardship is an essential aspect of the Greek Orthodox faith. It is the practice of offering one’s time, talents, and resources to God in humble and contrite devotion. As faithful stewards of God’s gifts, we strive to use them wisely and for the greater good of our community and the world at large.

At its core, stewardship is a personal offering to God. It is a recognition that all that we have comes from Him and that we are merely caretakers of His blessings. As such, we are called to use our time, talents, and resources in ways that honor Him and further His kingdom.

When we talk about stewardship, we often refer to the three T’s: time, talent, and treasure. These are the areas in which we are called to offer our gifts to God.

Time

Time is perhaps the most precious resource we have. We are each given a finite amount of time on this earth, and it is up to us to use it wisely. As stewards of God’s time, we are called to prioritize our lives in a way that reflects our faith. This means setting aside time for prayer, worship, and service to others.

Talent

Talent refers to the unique skills and abilities that God has given each of us. Whether we are gifted in music, art, writing, or any other area, we are called to use our talents to glorify God and serve His people. This might mean volunteering our time to teach a Sunday school class, using our artistic abilities to create beautiful liturgical vestments, or using our writing skills to share the Gospel with others.

Treasure

Treasure refers to the material resources that God has blessed us with. This might include our income, our possessions, and our financial resources. As stewards of God’s treasure, we are called to use these resources in ways that honor Him and benefit others. This might mean tithing to our church, donating to charitable causes, or using our financial resources to support the ministries of our church.

It is important to note that our offerings of time, talent, and treasure are acceptable to God in any combination. Some of us may have more time than money, while others may have more money than time. Regardless of our individual circumstances, we are all called to offer what we can in humble and contrite devotion.

At Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, we believe that stewardship is an essential part of our faith. We strive to foster a culture of generosity and service among our members, encouraging each other to use our gifts to further God’s kingdom. We believe that stewardship is not just a once-a-year pledge, but a way of life that should be practiced every day.

If you are new to the concept of stewardship or would like to learn more, we invite you to inquire further. We will be publishing more articles on this topic in the future, as well as hosting seminars and workshops to help our members grow in their understanding and practice of stewardship.

In conclusion, stewardship is a personal offering to God that encompasses our time, talent, and treasure. As faithful stewards, we are called to use these gifts in ways that honor Him and benefit His people. At Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, we believe that stewardship is a way of life that should be practiced every day, and we invite all our members to join us in this important work.
